CONTEXTE
On the one hand, we have a fragile coastline that is subject to numerous pressures and threats, and on the other, teachers who work on the coast and want to engage their classes but don't necessarily know how or by what means to do so. The teacher from Boulogne-sur-Mer even told us that some of his students, who live in the upper, more modest neighbourhoods, had never set foot on the beach before the AME project. It's hard to imagine that 8-year-old children living 1 or 2 kilometres from the sea have never put their feet in the sand.
So there is a need, on the one hand, to equip teachers with the necessary tools and, on the other, to reconnect children with living things by encouraging their civic engagement - all in order to preserve ecosystems. The concept of educational marine areas is one way of doing this. Not yet fully known in France, it is not known at all abroad. The aim of this project was therefore to analyse the needs and progress of a Belgian school class under the guidance of a French pilot class and to develop an interactive guide that can be used by school classes in many countries.
